What is S.P.A.R.K.S ?

The name of our organization is also an acronym which summarizes the pillars of our approach and services

Sports :  Through the love of sports and the passion for competition, we would promote, brotherhood, togetherness and diversity.

Peace :  Through respectful dialogue on a variety of topics, we would empower individuals with a peaceful state of mind which would then enable them to freely open up to others.

Acceptance : Our doors will be open to all and especially to those whose life’s experience have led them to believe that there is hope and salvation in any form of hatred and bigotry.  Our policy of acceptance will be unwavering provided that our pillar for Peace remains unaltered.

Respect : Our commitment is to establish respect for humanity as a God given right and not a privilege earned based on your status, origin or color and therefore, all individuals will always be treated with the utmost respect in every aspect of our interaction.

Knowledge : We truly believe that ignorance is a black hole that will unleash mayhem to humanity if not challenged and extinguished . Only Knowledge can do that. The knowledge of the self first and foremost but also the understanding of our relations with others. We seek to promote an educational environment in which we will all be eternal students in search of a better tomorrow.

Spirituality : And last but not least, we will acknowledge and embrace ourselves as spiritual beings on a journey that is greater than our collective selves. We will promote exchanges and interactions among the various religion with the hope to foster regular and continuous dialogues for  a greater unity in diversity.

Budget

We estimate that each center in the US will cost about $ 3.5M to design and build. The cost includes the purchase of the land in an area that is both central and conducive to our activities.  We anticipate the center in Haiti to run at about $ 1.0M including the purchase of the land.

We are currently working with professional real estate agents to secure land that is about 10-12 acres in size and will be zoned for special purposes.

Finance

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we will be relying heavily on contributions to get our vision to materialize.  However, once the center is operational, we are confident that we will be able to generate funding from our core activities. This will enable us to continue impacting more lives as well as redirect contributions to be fully invested in the betterment of the community at large.

We also intend to partner with various religious organization so that their members could enjoy our services at discounted prices as well as with corporations whose thirst for community services and social responsibility will translate into concrete and financial support for our vision.

Location

While we believe that each community throughout the country will benefit from the S.P.A.R.K.S vision, we would like however to focus our attention to 3 locations as the start of our activities.

a. South Florida as a beacon of diversity and the international aspect of Miami

b. Central Florida in the heart of family life and entertainment

c. Haiti as a symbol of our focus to contribute to solving world poverty and empowering families to control their destiny. The approach in Haiti will be adapted to address local needs such as caring for orphans and addressing rampant poverty.

Timing

While we are eager to start impacting lives in a positive manner, we are also aware of the daunting task ahead.   Our success in pursuing an aggressive timeline will be based on our ability to secure the funding necessary to purchase the land and build our first center. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused some significant delays with our planning.

We remain confident that once our first center is operational, the model will be easier to replicate. Despite all the challenges ahead, we are striving to have our first center open by December 31st 2022
