When we look at the world with our eyes wide open and take a minute to assess the state of the world, one can’t help but feel saddened and aggrieved; for the assessment is disappointing to say the least. Many people all over the world are still dying, lacking basic necessities or they are oppressed for no other reasons than claiming their God given right to live with decency and to be free despite their colors or religious denomination. We have come to the comforting understanding that we as individuals have very little impact on the suffering of others and it is often to our governments and politicians that we delegate our power and our will to make things better for another fellow human being. The age of social media and smart devices have now heightened this feeling of what we would define as empty awareness. We are all connected, with access to a wide range of information, the like of which has never been seen in the history of mankind and yet, we as individuals, have lost the ability to simply relate to another human being. We have lost the ability to take the time to build the foundation for strong friendships and for everlasting bonds. We have forgotten what kindness and generosity mean in our daily lives only to be reminded of its power when it goes viral on social media. We also have forgotten that many of our differences can be solved when willing individuals decide to sit around a table and share a meal or play sports together and by doing so, promoting a respectful and positive conversation with the ultimate goal of a peaceful co-existence if not everlasting friendship.

We understand that we will not be able to remedy all the illness of the world, but we are willing to do our part so that in our neighborhood, our counties, our cities, our states and even perhaps our country, people from all horizons start meeting on a regular basis in an safe environment where open communication on difficult topics is promoted with respect and understanding rather than pushed aside under the rug of ignorance and indifference. A place where families can come for an afternoon or an evening of fun, entertainment and education and where they would instill in the next generation the love for humanity and its service above all…
